Christmas time again

Well this year was a very fun Christmas! Skylar was the most into it than ever. She was singing Rudolf the red nose reindeer all the time and jingle bells batman smells(thanks to her wonderful mommy teaching her and her friends the song).


Before Christmas Skylar and daddy made a gingerbread train. They worked very well together, unlike last year when they both had different ideas on how it should be done ;)


We went a little overboard on presents...OK alot overboard. But it was just so much fun getting presents for both girls.

We got Papa to get his Santa suit on so we could take pictures with everyone. He did it...not very cheerfully at first. but he got into it.

Skylar had already seen the "real" Santa at the mall and knew that it was Papa, but she had fun with it anyway.

Skylar wrote a letter to Santa and left him his plate of cookies and carrots for his reindeer. She did not want to settle down and go to sleep though. So I had to tell her that if she was awake when Santa got to our roof he would just continue on. He has a strict schedule and did not have time to wait on little girls that weren't asleep. Mean I know, but it worked! So she closed her eyes tight and finally went to bed.

In the morning she was happy to find that most of the cookies and carrots were eaten and that he had written her back and left a little bracelet he made for her. She has been wearing it every day. The only jewelry she will actually wear.

We started opening presents on Christmas Eve and then a few hours on actual Christmas. Skylar did very well for the most part of not telling people what she got them. Although when she gave daddy his present she handed it to him and said "It's a watch, I hope you like it." We all bursts in to laughter. From then on she waited until the paper was almost off to tell people what it was.

Halloween Fun

Well another Halloween has gone, and once again Skylar had a blast! Before it even started she got into the spirit by playing with some masks that Aimee had made. Skylar even got to make one to fit her face. So much fun!

This year she went as a lady bug....and a very cute one if I do say so myself. Her and Samantha matched, which made it even cuter!

Skylar let me do her make up this year, surprisingly. Every other year she has had a fit and not let me. But not this year, so i went all out! And she got compliments on it all night.

First we went to the local Fred Meyers where she got to decorate some cup cakes and enter into a costume contest. Which she won and received a $25 gift certificate for the store. She had a friend with her who was bummed that she didn't win, so Skylar shared her money with her so that they both got to pick out toys. Then we went to a mall by our place and walked around. But we got there towards the end so a lot of the stores were already out of candy.

So we came home and then walked around the neighborhood. As always Skylar got more than enough candy. And every day she wakes up asking for candy. AHHHH!!!! Oh well.

Farm Field Trip

On Weds. Skylar went on her first field trip with school. They went to Bauman farms and I got to go with her!

We had to take the bus 30 minutes to get there. I forgot how uncomfortable buses were, but Skylar loved being able to ride on a big bus.

As soon as we got there we all went into a covered area and had lunch. Which most of the kids didn't eat because they were so excited and just wanted to run around.

First thing we did was see how apple cider was made.

The kids really liked watching the chopped up apples being pressed down and all the juices coming out. For me, it made me not want to drink it. Ahhh, the differences of kids and adults.

Once we saw the whole process we got to each have a little cup. It was delicious, even after seeing how it was made.

Next we got to go on a hay ride around the farm and then go pick our pumpkins.

They had pumpkins gourds and decorative corn strategically placed in rows in the corn fields and each child got to pick one of each to take home with them. Even the parents that went got to pick out pumpkins.

Once all the kids were back on the wagon we went to a hay maze. The kids went wild for it! The only way to get out of it was to go down a big slide. And for any of you who know Skylar she is not to keen on big slides. So I was a little worried. But like a Super BIG Girl she went down it and was very proud of herself!

You can't go to a farm without a little petting zoo action, so that was next. There were pigs.

And there were goats. the kids got to feed the goats if they wanted, which of course they all did. there were even little baby goats.

I just wanted to put one in my back pack and take one home....and then i smelled them and changed my mind.

And after that was all done it was time to go home. It was a fun day. Skylar had so much fun that when we got home she passed out in the chair. what a day!

Starting school!

Well this week Skylar started school.

On Monday me and Phil took her to orientation so that she could see her classroom,meet her classmates and all three of her teachers.

We were only there for an hour and a half, but it was full of fun and excitement. Skylar didn't want to leave.

Two of the teachers came to our apartment a couple weeks ago to go over paperwork, and while here they took a family photo of us. So at orientation Skylar got to decorate a picture frame for the picture.I think I got more glitter on me than her though. It was fun.

She also got to sit on the magic carpet where she was read a story that was in both English and Spanish...yup that's right she will be learning Spanish in preschool.

Then it was playground time!!! They didn't really get to play. But cruelly they just showed the kids where they would be playing. They did get to play follow the leader on the play structure.

And today was her first day!!!! It was hard to keep her calm all morning until we went to the bus stop. Every five minutes I got to hear "Is it time to go the bus yet?"

We went to the duck pond to waste some time.

And finally it was time. So we went down stairs and got her friend that is also in her class and off we went.

I didn't even get a hug good bye when the bus got there. She rushed on the bus and that was the last I saw of her for four hours. When she arrived home, she was very tired. But from what she said it was a great day. She has been singing songs that she learned all night.

Teddy Bear Picnic

So today was Skylar's teddy bear picnic. And it was a lot of fun!

We got to the park at about 11 this morning so that we could stake our claim on a good spot. All morning it looked like it was going to rain. So all morning we were singing rain rain go away!

As soon as the party started though the clouds parted and it ended up being a really nice day.

The kids played great and had lots of fun!!

The big teddy bear was a great success! So many kids got there pictures taken of them as a bear.

Even some of the big kids did it too!

I made four dozen bear cookies. So all the kids and parents got to decorate a cookie.

And finally about 6, the party ended and we made our way home. It was a great party. And we are thinking we might make it a yearly event!

Crawdad Craziness!!

While at the lake some of our friends put out some traps and caught a WHOLE bunch of crawdads. Daddy was very excited, so we left Samantha at home at went to the feed.

Skylar wasn't to sure about them. A friend of Skyalr's earlier in the day told her they were icky.

She also said that she was a semi vegetarian. When I ask what that meant she said that she didn't eat seafood. I told her that was strange because a lot of vegetarians eat seafood but not meat...her reply...Oh I eat meat its so yummy how could you not? hehe little kids say the darndest things.

Well daddy cleaned a crawdad for Skylar, dipped it in butter and that was the end of it. I think she ate as many as daddy, and mommy.......well I took pictures.
