fun at the island

Last day at the lake, we finally decide take Skylar over to the island to play on the playground and in the sand. So we got in the boat and headed over. You couldn't tell she was excited on the way there as she pretended to sleep on the boat....but I knew better.

As soon as we docked she was off and running to the playground. She wanted to go on the swings first....of course. She had lots of fun trying to swing faster and faster enough to get daddy who was taking pictures of her. And a few times she got him!

Once she was FINALLY done with the swings we went to the slide. Last year she wasn't quite big enough for it, but she was now.
And we weren't ready for how fast it was...I don't think she was either. The first time she went down she took flight ending up on her bottom. And she loved it!

Then she went to looking through the telescope, where she saw Grammy's house, trees and a few birds.

Then came the fun part.....the sand. Daddy wasn't to sure about it, but I just told him "hey its the lake its OK for her to get dirty." And she did. We built sand castles and buried mommy's feet.

But then the rain came again so our fun time at the island had to end. Ahhhhh........sad. Good thing we have three more months of summer time fun ahead of us. YEA!!!!!!!!

smores smores and more smores!!!

Last night was the first campfire of the season. Skylar was very excited when she saw mommy and daddy bring out the sticks and the big bag of marshmellows. She couldnt wait!

Daddy helped her put the marshmellow on the stick and roast it on the fire. And for every marshmellow on a stick there were two in her mouth.

We finally got her calm enough to sit by the fire in her very own seat and eat the wonderfully delicious smore.

It was a fun night, we even got some music by the fire!
Go papa and daddy!!!

A new bike

We pull into Grammy's drive way and Skylar spies a present for her. A new tricycle! She has been asking for one for the last few months...pretty much every day, and now she has one at Grammy's.

She has yet to figure out how to ride it, the correct way. She can pedal backwards like a pro. And when it comes to walking on it she rocks too. But however she rides it, this weekend all she has wanted to do is ride her bicycle. She is not going to be very happy when she finds out that she has to keep it at the lake and not take it home. Uh oh spagettios!!!

i so sorry

Playing out in the garage with papa, Skylar found some tape. So I gave her two pieces to play with. She was using them for all sorts of things.....bandaides, name tags, bug killers.

Skylar kept asking me if she could put the tape on her mouth. I kept telling her NO. And then all of a sudden she got a look in her eyes and slowly started backing up. With a big grin on her face she started to say " I so sorry momma I so so sorry, I gonna put the tape on my mouth!" And then quickly she put it on her lips and started laughing hysterically. She thought she was so smart backing up and apologizing before she did anything wrong. Hmmmm....
Once the tape was off her mouth and she was very proud of herself she started to dance around like a dancing fool. Super cute....as always.

A castle for skylar

Skylar is in love with princesses and castles right now. We were watching a Little Einsteins episode where they had to help one of the Einsteins get to a castle so she could try on the glass slipper. So of course this was her favorite show that she now talks about ALL THE TIME!!! In the show there is a rocket ship and in this episode Rocket makes a dress for the girl. So after hearing about it for a few days, I made Skylar a castle that she could sit in with some of her Lego's.

She was so excited!! She kept going in and out of it, talking about how she had to get to the ball so that she could try on the slipper. And she would twirl around after telling me that rocket had made her a pretty dress.

It was cute, and she was not very happy when it was time to go to bed and the castle had to be torn down and put away. Oh well. Now she just twirls around and has a pretend castle. So it all worked out.

Sugar Cookie Fun

Today Skylar woke up in a great mood from her nap so I decided to do something fun with her. I made some sugar cookie dough and got out all of our cookie cutters for her to choose from. Once we were all ready I let her practice with the rolling pin before I put the dough down. And she did great!

Skylar is an excellent dough roller. She did great....with only a little help from mommy we were ready to start using the cutters. I think this was her favorite part because she went a little crazy with the cutting. But she didn't seem to mind.

Then they were off to the oven and she just waited there until the timer went off, and then instantly pushed her chair to the counter and grabbed one.

And since she is such a good little helper, as we all know, she even cleaned up when we were done.

parade day!

Yesterday there was a parade right outside our house....well half a block away, so of course we had to take Skylar. She was very excited to go when she woke up. But by the time it was time to go, she wasn't so sure anymore. I convinced her that it would be fun and got her out to the street. She was really hesitant at first because there were kids playing in the street and she knew that was not allowed so she was a little confused.

The parade started and Skylars mouth dropped in amazment

lots of noise, police giving out stickers and HORSES!!!!!

The first candy thrown we had to push her out into the street to go get it. And she did not like that at all! But once she saw that if you smiled and waved to the parade you got lots and lots of candy. Running to get the candy was fun too,by the end of the parade her bag was full. While walking home Skylar had her bag open and walking up to everyone on the street asking for more...like it was Halloween, but it worked and everyone gave her more candy!

A picnic and some gardening

Yesterday was really nice, so in the morning me and Skylar decided to walk to the store and get some breakfast and sit out on our lawn and have a picnic. It was already getting hot by the time we got to the store and when we got out, Skylar did not want to wait till we got home to eat...so she had a little snack before we headed home.

Once we finally got home, we laid out our blanket and had a nice little picnic. For the next couple hours we played outside and started to do a little gardening around our house.

Skylar LOVES flowers, but not so much everything that goes with it.....like the bugs and worms. Every time a worm would pop out, Skylar would run yelling that the wormy was going to eat her up. And every time a bug would show itself Skylar would jump up and down on it yelling no lady bug no!!!

We had lots of fun and got a lot done as well. And now thanks to my big helper there are lots of holes around the house from Skylar digging holes for me. What a thoughtful little girl.

Skylar was very excited to have daddy come home so that she could show him all the work she had done. He was hot though and went to change into some shorts first. when he got back outside, Skylar looked him up and down and said "those are some nice panties daddy". I couldn't help but laugh, so Skylar thinking she was hilarious kept saying it over and over! It was great....even daddy smiled a little, and then he looked at me and said "thats going in the blog isn't it?" HEHEHE he knows me so well.

New Room

Skylar has been having some troubles sleeping in her room for the past few months. So we decided to give her a new room. So we switched rooms, and we painted it. She now has a pretty pretty princess room. Skylar went to Gammy's for the weekend and I painted my booty off! Not only did I paint her walls but I painted her bed, chair and I also did some sponge painting and stenciling. But it totally paid off, because her room looks so fantabulous!!!

When Skylar got home she knew that we had done something to her room so she ran in looking to see what we had done. She just kept turning around...she was so excited to have Cinderella and all the other princesses on her walls.

Even now, 2 weeks later, she is still pulling us into her room so that she can show us her cool new room, and she puts it. And she has been sleeping through the night, which is the best thing. Now if we could get her to sleep in past 6Am and we would be set.

weekend at the park

This weekend was so beautiful that we spent most of it outside playing. Both Saturday and Sunday we went to a park and Skylar had a blast! She is in love with the swings. She would swing all day if we let her.

Sunday we met up with our friends Lueck and Kinkaid. Skylar and Kinkaid LOVE playing together. When we first arrived at the park and they saw each other it was so cute, they saw each other and both started running towards each other. And then they grabbed hands and off they went to play.

We tried to get Skylar to play soccer but she kept picking up the ball and saying thankyou to who ever kicked it to her. Oh well, she will get eventually.

*Funny Story*
Towards the end of the day when we were all tired and had just had some snacks, Kincaid lifted up his shirt and said "Wow my belly is huge!" So Skylar lifted up her shirt and said "Yeah I so full!" But as her shirt was up Kinkaid noticed her bely button and yelled "You got a nipple in a really weird place." Skylar, being a little confused, pulled up her shirt again and shook her head pointing at her chest saying " no no they right here." We were all in tears laughing so hard...as well as some of the other grown ups that heard the comments.

What a pretty girl!

As me and Skylar were in the bathroom one morning last week getting ready for the grandparents to come visit, she opens a drawer and pulls out my mascara. Thinking that she can't open it, I don't take it away and forget that she has it.....until I hear a OHHHHH!!!! I so pretty!
She does manage NOT to poke herself in the eye. And seeing as she thought she did such a good job she also let me take lots of pictures between my laughter. then came the problem.....she wouldn't let me clean her up. Since she was sooooo pretty she wanted her Grandma Broughton and Gammy to see her. So we left it on all morning. I would try to do a sneak attack every once in awhile but that would always end with her swinging her arms around and yelling at me to go away. So I gave up and let the Gammy do it.

Do you remember?

Since my parents are putting boxes away and trying to unpack their house, I am, as a result of it, getting many many many boxes myself to take back to my house. And as me and Skylar were going through one of those boxes while finishing Beauty and the Beast, we found my oh so pretty veil (actually Tara's, but shes the best and let me wear it) from the wedding. Skylar instantly grabs it and starts to put it on and dance around. She then gets serious and says...mama do you remember when you were dressed like that? I was a little confused and asked her what she was talking about. And she says, you know...when you dressed like a princess, like Belle and me too, you were so pretty. You look like a princess. I remember, do you remember mommy? She is the sweetest little girl ever. So of course I reply with a...I do remember.

Over the river and through the woods

Well the super duper grandparents are back and Skylar is enjoying them. We went to see them at the lake a few weeks ago and had so much fun. On the way there Skylar was getting car sick so we stopped and went on a little nature walk. Sklyar loved hearing all the birdies and the looking at the river. It was lots of fun!

Once there Skylar had lots of fun! She even helped unpack some boxes. Although she took a lot of play breaks,
which of course grammy didn't mind.
We finally headed home, but stopped along the way to pick some flowers.
